Mall Of Qatar
Mall of Qatar is currently under construction with 388, 000 m2 gross building area and 162,000 m2 gross leasable area will be the largest mall in Qatar and also situated adjacent to a FIFA 2022 World Cup stadium, with a dedicated station on Doha’s new metro line.
Mall of Qatar will have over 400 shops from luxury to the world’s leading powerhouse brands and an exciting array of food, beverage and entertainment will make this the premier destination in Qatar on 750,000 square feet of retail leasable space on 3 levels in addition to underground and surface parking for 7,000 cars.
An international team of consultants is involved in the design and execution of Mall of Qatar. Chapman Taylor, one of the world’s foremost firms in retail and entertainment design is the design architect for the project. One of the major distinguishing features of the scheme design will be a 3-storey high, sophisticated urban-lifestyle market place running the full length of the central spine. This area, with its vaulted glass ceiling, opens out into a breathtaking central amphitheater called “The Oasis”. With its impressive domed roof, this space will become the heart of the scheme and the overall visitor experience.
Construction is well underway and opening is scheduled for December 2015 with an estimated 20 million customers anticipated annually.
BIM Work: BIM it is a buzzword in the construction industry worldwide , short for “building information modeling ”, it's like making a model for a building via a computer which has all the information that enables us to we make this model , it can also be used for quantity take off, simulation ,safe ,......etc
BIM must be used in this project because it has a large area and a big project.
I work in a BIM team where we use a BIM model for the mall of Qatar from IFC drawing up to 400 LOD .
Before working in model we've to make BIM execution plan , template and prepare families
and because the mall is a big project we divide the model to many sub models , every zone in one model We start with by receiving GA drawing , then we make a BIM model and update it when we receive the new GA drawing By using the model we could easily find the clashes earlier on and send it to the designer in order to fix it before applying it in the site to reduce the cost.
it is easy to take any section in any place or make 3D section for imagining the work . when we finish, we make a walkthrough around the model by lumion to provide a visualisation of the project for the stakeholders.
