The Revit Revolution

I still recall the feeling of excitement and anticipation that I went through in preparing for the presentation of my graduation project.
I was adamant on having a 3D model for the project and despite the reservation of other I went ahead and did it using SketchUp, but I have to admit it was a very poor 3D Model. Few months after the presentation, something new entered my life! It was Revit. From the very first video I watched I fell in love with Revit, it was magical, something new and out of this world almost like a Hollywood film.
It was about a renovation building that has been changed and the video showed all the stages from day one when they started studying the project until it was completed. As I sat watching the video I felt as if I am inside the building - this video was my ignition. I started learning by myself; I didn’t sleep for the first 3 days as I was very keen on learning how to make a 3d model and how to make clash detection between different disciplines.
Within few months I became very familiar with using Revit perfectly and furthermore I also started creating my own templates and families to facilitate creating systems easily with less time. The irony lies in the fact that nowadays a task may take me a maximum of one minute whereas once upon a time I had to search for hours just to know how to make this or that.
I do believe that you need Revit for every design you are going to perform even if it is the design of your own house. I personally tried that before doing anything within my own house, by using Revit to check my satisfaction; it was amazing having different options by few clicks as it saved vast amount of time as well as cost which proved to be perfect for a small house .
